This lady/ gentleman is laryngectomied (voice box has been surgically removed) and breathes through a tracheostoma (opening in the neck). The tracheostoma needs medical care, therefore this person needs the (some off the) following care products in her/his handluggage:
- Extra voice prothesis
- Electrolarynx with special battery
- Stoma plasters
- Heat and Moisture exchangers (artificial nose)
- Long curved forceps
- Cleaning brush or plug
- Cotton swaps, cleaning swaps
- Stoma light
- Skin glue
- NaCl 0,9% in flacon or bottle
- Syringe or/ and needles
These products are of vital importance for this person.
The stoma is no obstacle to fly. Because of the operation, the lady/ gentleman breathes through an opening in the neck. In case of emergency give her/him mouth to stoma respiration or oxygen in the stoma.
